This past week I received some unwelcomed news. My Coast Guard recruiter texted me telling me MEPS had disqualified me because of a Eustachian tube issue (which may or may not have caused issues while flying) which my doctor said I MIGHT have. When I received that news, I was honestly crushed. I then realized, even though I’ve been saying I can see myself chickening our last minute for basics or just see myself not making it, I want it. This is something I truly want in my life and truly want to pursue as a career. I don’t want it just as a get out of debt free card, this is something combining the things I love. Flying, boating (and apparently now) law-enforcement. Normally I would dwell on this saying “guess it isn’t meant to be” or “what else can go wrong” but no. I am choosing to take this and run with it. I won’t give up. I want to be a Coast Guardsmen; semper paratus. Always ready.

And so ends season 3 with the Jet Express. It’s been one hell of an emotional year here. All kinds of ups and downs. But I will always be thankful for the friends I’ve made here.

And here is my stereotypical avgeek post wishing the Dash-8 a happy retirement. She’s kind of a special aircraft to me since she was the second, third, and fourth aircraft I flew on (that I could actually remember) back in 2013, doing EWR-PHL-SBY-PHL. These photos, from when I decided to do a turn to TRI aboard her (and almost got stuck there because I messed up my listing). It was a fun aircraft to fly aboard and was kind of a dream one for me to fly one day. It will be missed.
